Catalogue of an exhibition of works by John Leech (1817-1864) held at the Grolier club from January 22 until March 8, 1914
Exhibition catalogue issued by the Grolier Club, New York, in 1914, documenting a show of drawings and prints by the Punch cartoonist John Leech, compiled for collectors and club members. The plates reproduce Leech's working sketches: pencil and pen studies of Victorian women in bonnets and crinolines, men in top hats, children and horses, several tinted with thin washes of pink, blue and yellow on pale paper, useful for loose figure studies and period costume detail.
