Catalogue of an exhibition of stained glass from the XIth to the XVIIIth cent
A 1920 sales exhibition catalogue issued by the Paris and New York dealer Demotte Inc., listing medieval and later stained glass panels from the eleventh to eighteenth centuries for American collectors and museum buyers. The plates are black-and-white photographs of backlit panels against black grounds, showing leaded figures, medallion roundels with beaded borders, canopied architectural frames and haloed saints in heavy drapery, usable as high-contrast silhouettes, lead-line patterns and circular frame motifs.
