A museum collection catalogue of medieval and later antiquities in Liverpool's Mayer Museum, compiled by Charles T. Gatty and printed by G. G. Walmsley in Liverpool in 1883 for curators, collectors and antiquarian readers. The plates reproduce illuminated manuscript leaves in flat monochrome: framed miniatures of the Crucifixion, Nativity and Annunciation set in dense acanthus and vine-scroll borders with berries, birds and grotesques, alongside blackletter text columns and historiated initials that yield ready-made border strips, frames and decorated letters.
