An 1874 New York auction catalogue of a private collection of ancient and modern coins, compiled by William H. Strobridge for sale by George A. Leavitt & Co. at Clinton Hall, Astor Place, and aimed at collectors and dealers. The plates here are mostly paratext: two engraved Boston Public Library bookplate seals with wreaths, allegorical figures and a harbour view, a wood-engraved street view of the Mercantile Library and Clinton Hall with carriages, and a foliate tailpiece of paired grotesque birds—usable as stamps, building vignettes and typographic ornament.
