Catalogue of samplers : with 16 illustrations
A departmental collection catalogue issued by the Victoria and Albert Museum's Department of Textiles, printed in London by H.M.S.O. in 1922 for curators, collectors and needleworkers studying English samplers. The plates are halftone photographs of stitched linen panels: horizontal pattern bands, cross-stitch alphabets and numerals, worked dates, verse inscriptions, potted flowering trees, birds and geometric medallions, all usable as grid-based ornament, borders and stitched lettering models.
