Catalogue of samplers
A 1915 collection catalogue of embroidered samplers in the Victoria and Albert Museum's Textiles Department, printed by H.M. Stationery Office in London for curators, collectors and needleworkers. Halftone plates show whole samplers and detail strips: cross-stitch alphabets and dated inscriptions, banded borders, whitework drawn-thread panels, potted trees, birds, figures and geometric block patterns usable as repeat motifs and grid ornament.
