An exhibition catalogue issued by the Worcester Art Museum in 1909 for its summer show of contemporary American painting, printed for visitors and members. The halftone plates reproduce oil paintings of women indoors — seated in pale gowns, bare-shouldered at a table, a girl's head and shoulders — in deep tonal darks with soft-edged highlights, useful for low-key portrait studies, candlelit interiors, and dense black grounds.
