Catalogue of works of art ... also views of the summer and winter homes
An 1884 catalogue of the private art collection of Philadelphia machine-tool manufacturer William B. Bement, printed by the Fairmount Park Commissioners for Memorial Hall and circulated among collectors, museum visitors and dealers. The 152 plates are halftone reproductions of nineteenth-century salon paintings: pastoral landscapes with heavy tree masses, village crowd scenes, waterfalls, and interior portraits of women in wide skirts, all rendered in soft grey tone useful for atmospheric backgrounds and period figure reference.
