Catalogue of the works of art belonging to the City of New York
An inventory of publicly owned sculpture, murals, and memorials compiled by the Art Commission of the City of New York and printed by the Gilliss Press in 1909 for civic officials and art administrators. Halftone plates show marble figure groups on the Washington Arch, park fountains and pedestals photographed in situ under bare trees, low-relief panels with inscribed lettering, and allegorical ceiling murals of education — useful for classical figure groups, relief lettering, and monument silhouettes.
