Cathedral cities of England
A travel account of English cathedral towns written by George Gilbert and illustrated by William Wiehe Collins, published in New York by Dodd, Mead in 1905 for armchair and touring readers. The 66 colour plates are watercolours of cathedral towers seen over rooftops, walls, trees and river bridges, with figures and market stalls small in the foreground; useful for muted stone-and-foliage palettes, hazy skies and loose washed architectural silhouettes.
