Cathedrals and churches of the Rhine
A 1905 travel-architecture survey of Rhineland cathedrals and churches by Milburg Francisco Mansfield (Francis Miltoun), published by L. C. Page in Boston for American tourists and armchair readers, with illustrations by Blanche McManus. The plates mix dense wash-and-ink river panoramas of walled towns bristling with spires against streaked skies, and spare outline drawings of single churches and valley maps, useful for silhouetted skylines, clean Romanesque and Gothic building profiles, and pen-hatched landscape textures.
