Cathedrals and cloisters of the south of France
A two-volume architectural travel account of southern French cathedrals, abbeys and cloisters written by Elise Whitlock Rose and published by G. P. Putnam's Sons in New York and London in 1906 for English-speaking travellers and church antiquarians. Halftone photographs show Romanesque nave arcades, apse exteriors with buttresses and towers, and stone courtyards, with heavy grain and deep shadow useful as texture and silhouette.
