Cento givochi liberali, et d'ingegno

Ringhieri, Innocenzio, fl. 1550 · 1551 · Bologna, A. Giaccarelli · 81 pictures

A Renaissance handbook of a hundred parlour games devised by Innocenzio Ringhieri, printed at Bologna by Anselmo Giaccarelli in 1551 for courtiers and their game-playing company. The index holds its woodcut initials, small square blocks in which figures in doublets and hose scramble, kneel and gesture against dense horizontal hatching, useful as historiated drop caps, textured display letters, or cut-out figure vignettes.
