Cham
A numbered album of caricatures by Cham (Amédée de Noé), issued in Paris by the satirical daily Le Charivari in 1853 for a middle-class newspaper readership. Small square pen-and-ink panels, each captioned with a plate number, show theatre crowds, top-hatted bourgeois, Renaissance costume parody and studio nudes, drawn in loose hatching that reproduces cleanly at any size.
