Cham
An album of Cham's caricatures issued by the Paris satirical paper Le Charivari in 1853, collecting the cartoonist's weekly lithographed jokes for a middle-class newspaper readership. The drawings are loose pen sketches of Parisian street life — top-hatted men, crinolined women, soldiers, organ grinders and beggars — in scratchy hatched line on bare white ground, usable as cut-out figures, gesture studies and period costume reference.
