A survey of the industrial arts—ceramics, glass and stained glass, enamels, metalwork, goldsmithing, jewellery and tapestry—written by the critic Philippe Burty and published in Paris by Ducrocq in 1866 for collectors and craftsmen. Two hundred wood engravings isolate single objects against blank ground: ewers, vases, reliquaries and holy-water stoups with legible surface ornament, useful as clean silhouettes or ornament sources.
