Chicago by day and night
A visitor's guidebook to Chicago's amusements and nightlife, written by Harold Richard Vynne and published by Thomson and Zimmerman in 1892 for tourists arriving ahead of the World's Columbian Exposition. Pen-and-ink vignettes set into the text show street types in derbies and checked trousers, park benches, gaslamps and barroom tables, drawn in loose hatching with figures cut off by the column edge.
