An introduction to European painting for young readers, written by Agnes Ethel Conway with Sir Martin Conway and published by Adam and Charles Black in London in 1909. The plates are three-colour reproductions of old master oils, including Van Dyck-style portraits, nativity and dragon-slaying scenes and dim pastoral landscapes, all with muted olive, ochre and oxblood casts and soft misregistered edges useful as aged-painting texture.
