Children's singing games, with the tunes to which they are sung

Gomme, Alice Bertha · 1900 · London, Nutt · 63 pictures

A collection of traditional British singing games with their tunes, gathered by folklorist Alice Bertha Gomme and published by Nutt in London in 1900 for children and the adults playing with them. The pages carry pen-and-ink vertical borders of children in medieval and Tudor dress holding books and staves, stacked heraldic shields with fleurs-de-lis, dense leaf-and-flower columns, and banner headings with drawn display lettering — usable as marginal strips, decorated initial panels, and ornament for song sheets.
