China, its costume, arts, manufactures, &c. : edited principally from the originals in the cabinet of the late M. Bertin, with observations explanatory, historical, and literary
A four-volume English compilation on Chinese dress, crafts and trades, edited by Jean Baptiste Joseph Breton from drawings in Henri Bertin's Paris cabinet and published by J.J. Stockdale in London in 1812 for readers curious about China. The small upright copperplates by Andrea Freschi show single workers and pairs at looms, lathes, benches, cages and carts, drawn in fine outline with light hatching and bare ground, useful for figure silhouettes, tool and apparatus shapes, and spot-sized vignettes.
