Chinese pottery and porcelain : an account of the potter's art in China from primitive times to the present day
A two-volume scholarly survey of Chinese ceramics by R. L. Hobson, keeper at the British Museum, published in New York in 1915 for collectors, curators and students of the potter's art. The plates are halftone photographs of single vessels against plain grounds, showing jars, vases and ewers with incised scrollwork, mottled glazes and applied handles; useful for silhouettes of pot profiles, floral scroll motifs and the soft grey tonal range of early photographic reproduction.
