A Chippendale romance
A collector's account of Thomas Chippendale furniture, written by Boston collector Eben Howard Gay and published in New York by Longmans, Green in 1915 for antiquarians and cabinet-makers' clients. The halftone plates photograph individual tables, chairs and cabinets against blank grounds, isolating cabriole legs, pierced fretwork galleries, carved shells and ribbon-back splats as clean silhouettes ready for cutting out.
