An English emblem book compiled by R. B. (Nathaniel Crouch) and printed for Edmund Parker in London in 1732, pairing fifty-odd copperplate emblems with verses and lottery "lots" for readers seeking instruction through amusement. The plates are small upright scenes numbered in the corner ("Emb. 29"), each with one or two allegorical figures—a woman with square and reins, a youth pouring water, Cupid over a reclining sleeper—set against hatched skies, distant towns, tents and trees; useful for cut-out figures, attribute-bearing personifications and compact framed vignettes.
