A children's emblem book by John Huddlestone Wynne, printed in London by George Riley in 1772 with designs after Samuel Wale, addressed to young Lord Newbattle and paired with prose and verse morals. The wood-engraved ovals hold small landscapes with trees, vines, birds, cottages and a lightning bolt, giving designers compact framed vignettes, hatched skies and simple emblem motifs.
