Choice emblems, natural, historical, fabulous, moral, and divine : for the improvement and pastime of youth : displaying the beauties and morals of the ancient fabulists, the whole calculated to convey the golden lessons of instruction under a new and more delightful dress : written for the amusement of a young nobleman
An emblem book for children by John Huddlestone Wynne, printed in London in 1793 by J. Chapman for the juvenile publisher E. Newbery, pairing verse morals with fables for a young nobleman's instruction. The 66 wood-engraved emblems sit in ovals under a ribbon scroll and show trees, birds, cottages, sunbursts and single figures in open country, rendered in coarse parallel hatching useful as small vignettes, spot ornaments or roundel frames.
