A chronological history of the origin and development of steam navigation
A chronological history of steam navigation compiled by U.S. naval officer George Henry Preble and published in Philadelphia by L. R. Hamersly & Co. in 1895 for naval officers, engineers, and maritime historians. The two indexed images are ownership marks rather than subject plates: a red oval War Department Library handstamp with a small cannon device, and an engraved Library of Congress seal dated 1800 beneath a spread eagle clutching arrows and branches, useful as period stamp textures, seal frames, and heraldic eagle vignettes.
