The church of S. Maria antiqua
An archaeological monograph on the early medieval Roman church of S. Maria Antiqua by Gordon McNeil Rushforth, issued in London by Macmillan in 1902 alongside Thomas Ashby's survey of the Roman Campagna, for classical scholars and topographers. The plate here is a tinted contour survey map of the Campagna, with hachured hills, red road and site lettering, ruin symbols and drainage lines usable as period cartographic texture.
