Circular relating to historic and prehistoric ruins of the Southwest and their preservation
A 1904 government circular by archaeologist Edgar L. Hewett, issued by the U.S. General Land Office in Washington to inform officials and the public about protecting Southwestern ruins. Halftone photographic plates show cliff dwellings, masonry towers and pueblo walls at Mesa Verde and other sites, often two views stacked per page with sideways captions — useful for coarse-grained stone textures, ruin silhouettes and early survey-photograph layouts.
