An instructional needlework manual issued in 1916 by the Clark Thread Company of Newark, New Jersey, printed in New York to teach home knitters and crocheters the stitches used with its thread. The plates are black-and-white studio photographs of swatches on needles against dark grounds, showing lace edgings, eyelet rows, zigzag openwork and crocheted flower squares that can be pulled as high-contrast texture fields, repeating grid patterns and scalloped border shapes.
