Leigh Hunt's essay on English stagecoach travel, reissued as a small illustrated gift volume by H.M. Caldwell of Boston for American general readers around the turn of the twentieth century. The pen-and-ink plates show coach doorways, post chaises and drivers on the box, each printed in black inside an orange ornamental border with hand-lettered captions, giving designers two-color frame patterns, titling scripts and period transport figures.
