Collection of the most remarkable monuments of the National Museum
A four-volume outline-engraved catalogue of the National Museum of Naples, compiled by Raffaele Gargiulo and published in Naples in 1869 for antiquarians, collectors and students of Greek and Roman art. The plates are pure contour line without shading: marble vases with figured friezes, fragmentary relief slabs, and unrolled vase paintings of gods, warriors and dancers banded with meander borders, giving clean scalable silhouettes, repeat ornament strips and figure groups that drop straight into line-art work.
