Cologne
A volume on the art and monuments of Cologne written by the French art historian Louis R\u00e9au for H. Laurens in Paris in 1908, issued in a series of illustrated city guides aimed at travellers and students of medieval architecture. The plates are halftone photographs of Romanesque apses, dwarf galleries, arcaded nave interiors, carved rood screens and organ cases, printed in soft grey tones with square borders, useful for architectural silhouettes, repeating arch patterns and stonework texture.
