Color preferences in heterogeneous social groups
A 1911 master's thesis by Nina Vivien Gresham at the University of Illinois, reporting a survey of color preferences among different social groups. Its plates are hand-drawn horizontal bar charts in black ink and cross-hatching on orange-ruled graph paper, each labelled by hand — useful for data-graphic texture, hatching patterns, and rough-edged grid layouts.
