Comparative anatomy of highway bridges
A 1905 civil engineering thesis by John Krippner, submitted at the University of Illinois and read by faculty examiners, comparing the structural members of highway bridges. Its plates are blueprints: white line drawings on blue grounds, packed with numbered figures of riveted joints, gusset plates, girder sections, bearing shoes and pins, each tagged with hand-lettered dimensions useful as white-on-blue pattern or technical ornament.
