Collected scientific papers of Benjamin Thompson, Count Rumford, on heat, gunnery, fireplaces, cookery and photometry, issued in Boston by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1870 for scientists and engineers. Engraved plates show sectioned apparatus — screws, gun bores, calorimeters, stoves — in outline with flat tinted washes, numbered figures, keyed letters and inch scales, useful as diagram and instrument motifs.
