Alexandre-Guy Pingré's two-volume history and theory of comets, printed in Paris in 1783 for astronomers and the learned readers of the French court. The plates are engraved line diagrams: orbital arcs, sight-lines and lettered intersection points set inside dotted zodiac circles marked with the twelve signs, useful for astronomical symbols, fine hairline geometry and figure labelling.
