Concrete ships : historical notes concerning them and a discussion of the problems involved in their construction
A 1918 engineering thesis by Paul Kircher at the University of Illinois, setting out the history of concrete ships and the construction problems they posed, written for naval architects and reinforced-concrete engineers. The plates are grainy halftone photographs of concrete barges and hulls on shipways, launchings, and moored vessels, each set on a red-ruled page under a typed capital caption, useful for wartime shipyard scenes, waterline silhouettes, and period page frames.
