Constable's sketches in oil & water colours
A 1904 London portfolio from George Newnes reproducing John Constable's oil and watercolour sketches, edited by Sir James Dromgole Linton for collectors and art students in the Newnes art library series. The plates are soft-edged halftones of English landscape studies—massed trees, heath and cloud, hay wagons, river banks—with broad tonal washes and captions crediting the South Kensington Museum, useful for atmospheric backgrounds, sky textures and silhouetted tree masses.
