A Dutch devotional print series issued at Delft in 1609 by publisher Nicolaes de Clerck, with forty copper engravings by Jan Wierix and compiled scriptural texts, made for lay readers' instruction and edification. Each small numbered plate shows one standing figure on bare rocky ground — Christ, apostles, evangelists, personified virtues and vices, and the seven planets — identified by attributes like mirror, chalice, sword, staff or apple, drawn in fine close hatching with swirling drapery, and printed on paper thin enough that letterpress shows through as a ghosted grey texture.
