The costume of the ancients
Thomas Hope's reference plates of Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Persian dress, first issued in 1809 and reprinted in London by Chatto and Windus in 1875 for painters, sculptors and stage designers copying antique costume. The outline engravings are pure contour line without shading, showing single standing or seated figures, drapery folds, pleated chitons, cloaks, headdresses, sandals and arms.
