A costume plate book issued by Edward Harding and printed by T. Bensley for the London publisher J. Stockdale in 1811, surveying the dress of peoples across the Russian empire for British collectors and readers of travel literature. Seventy-odd hand-coloured engravings show single standing figures on small patches of green ground, each in embroidered tunics, fur-trimmed coats, sashes, beaded headdresses and soft boots, drawn flat and full-length so the garment patterns, borders and colour pairings read clearly for cut-out or pattern use.
