[Costumes on the western coast of Africa
A set of hand-coloured lithographed costume plates drawn by T. W. Ramsay around 1830, recording dress worn along the western coast of Africa for European readers of ethnographic and travel material. Figures stand in twos and threes on bare ground washed with green and brown, in blue and white robes, striped wrappers, headwraps and turbans, with drums, flutes, spears and staffs.
