Cotton values in textile fabrics
A cotton-mill trade manual written and published by Daniel Augustus Tompkins in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1900, addressed to Southern mill owners, buyers and textile students weighing the cost of cotton in finished cloth. The plates are full-page reproductions of woven cotton samples — plaids, tattersall checks, ginghams and plain dark cloths — giving designers flat grid patterns, thread-count textures and muted dyed palettes of aubergine, olive, mustard and brown-black usable as tiling backgrounds or endpapers.
