Crivelli
A small 1908 monograph on the fifteenth-century Venetian painter Carlo Crivelli, issued in Boston by Bates and Guild for art students and picture collectors. The plates are halftone photographs of panel paintings and altarpiece sections: enthroned Madonnas under fruit swags, ranked saints in gold-embossed robes, Pietàs in arched and round frames, with heavy ink and flattened tone that suit cut-out silhouettes, borders, and ornamental panel layouts.
