Garden-craft old and new
A treatise on formal garden design by the English architect John Dando Sedding, published posthumously with a memoir by Edward Russell and reissued by John Lane in 1902 for architects and garden-makers. The plates are overhead plans drawn in hard black line: knot beds, box parterres, clipped scrollwork, terrace walks and octagonal ponds, with hand-lettered labels and scale bars usable as pattern and ornament stock.
