Recent developments in drawing by the aid of projection apparatus used on the house lighting system ..
A short 1912 technical paper by Cornell anatomist Simon Henry Gage, privately printed for microscopists and teachers who wanted to draw specimens by projecting them with ordinary house-current lamps. Halftone photographs show benches carrying lanterns, microscopes, rheostats and mirrors, each part tagged with small italic letters, giving designers grey-toned apparatus silhouettes, cable runs and a ready vocabulary of diagram lettering.
