The craft of hand-made rugs
A 1920 instruction manual by Ami Mali Hicks, published in New York by McBride, Nast & Company, teaching home weavers and hookers to make rugs from rags, yarn and braid. The plates are halftone photographs of finished rugs shot flat: concentric crocheted and braided circles, radiating pinwheels, striped rectangles with fringed borders — usable as textures, circular motifs and grid patterns.
