The happy garden
Mary Ansell's garden memoir, published by Cassell in London and New York in 1912 for English amateur gardeners. The 45 halftone photographs show herbaceous borders, lawns with clipped hedges, flowering shrubs, paths and cottage frontages in soft grey tones, useful as coarse-screen landscape textures, foliage silhouettes and period garden layouts.
