English costume
A survey of English dress from the Norman period to the nineteenth century, written and illustrated by the painter and stage designer Dion Clayton Calthrop and published by A. and C. Black in London in 1907 for artists, theatre workers and general readers. The line drawings are outline figures in heavy black ink, mostly single standing men and women shown full length against blank ground, with separate studies of hats, sleeves and shoes, giving designers clean silhouettes and period garment details that reproduce well at small size.
