Indian domestic architecture
A portfolio of heliotype photographs of Indian house fronts, mainly carved teak facades of Gujarat, assembled by the American designer Lockwood de Forest and printed in Boston in 1885 for architects, decorators and craftsmen drawing on Indian woodwork. The plates are high-contrast frontal records of bracketed windows, arcaded balconies and door frames, useful for repeating carved borders, rosette panels and pierced lattice patterns.
